Another Question of the Week

What are your Thanksgiving traditions? Anything you do special with or for your kids?

Gavin and I wake up early and make "puppy chow" and pumpkin bread together for all of us to snack on throughout the day. We also put up all of our Christmas stuff on this day. But, I'd like to think of some more holiday traditions to do with my kids... any suggestions?

My mom always had us cousins make placemats for dinner--probably more to keep up occupied than anything else...I can remember gathering leaves for gluing on the mats (that must have been appetizing for the diners!) or shaving crayons onto the paper and then ironing it through wax paper to create works of art.

kelly, that's really cute! I have nothing clever enough to share - just the usual. Oh, sometimes the women in my hubby's family do a family craft of some sort while the boys watch football. And our tree always goes up the Sat after Thanksgiving, so even if we travel for the holiday I insist that we are home by Sat a.m.!

I forgot to post about this idea, but while watching the parade Thurs a.m. we made the traditional chain link to Christmas that you tear one off of everyday...but to put a Thanksgiving spin on them, we wrote down one thing we are grateful/thankful for on each one (we let Charlotte come up with all 29--some are quite comical, i.e. my heating pad for boo boo knees!). We tear them off at dinner time every night and include a thanks for that blessing during grace.
