NMF Mother's Day Brunch

At this special event, we celebrated the women in our lives!

Members also learned how to make decorative sugar cookies.

A good time was had by all!

Watching the cookie demonstration.

Judi and Geri demonstrate how to make the Royal Frosting.

Members decorated and took home a cookie made by Judi.

Requested Recipes from the brunch:

Maria's Cinnamon Fungi's

1 loaf of white wonder bread (cut off crusts)

Mix: 1 8oz. cream cheese (softened)

1/4 cup sugar

1 egg yolk

Spread cream cheese mixture on bread.

Roll up.

Dip in a bowl of melted butter

Roll Fungi in a bowl with cinnamon and sugar mixed

Freeze immediately on cookie sheets.

When froze, place in freezer bags.

Remove from freezer when ready to cook.

Bake at 350 10-15 minutes.

Judi's Cookie Demonstration....

Mary's Sugar Cookies:
1 1/2 cups sifted confectioners sugar1 cup margarine1 egg (whisked)1 teaspoon vanilla1/2 teaspoon almond extract2 1/2 cups flour1 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Mix together well and make a ball…
Refrigerate for at least 4-5 hrs...overnight is best.When ready...roll it out.
Cut it out and place on greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375 for about 7-8 minutes.
They will NOT brown on the top so they may not looked done.

Royal Frosting:
2 egg whites3 cups confectioners sugar1 tablespoon lemon juice1/4 teaspoon salt
Combine egg whites, sugar, lemon juice and salt in a mixing bowl. Beat at high speed for several minutes until the mixture holds a soft peak.

1. Exhaustion: Parents can't say no because they don't have the energy to do so.

2. Guilt: Not being able to give more of their time, parents often give material gifts instead.

3. A loveless society: Shmuley says "we don't live in a very loving society. People come from broken childhoods; they often have loveless marriages. The only love they get is from their children, so they're afraid to discipline them because they think their children won't love them."

At Busch's Grocery Stores this Saturday, May 10 from 11am-3pm, $4.99 gets you an 8-inch square cake and all the supplies you'll need to decorate it right in the store. Kids will love doing this, especially to make a cake for Mother's Day :)

On Saturday, May 3, Danielle and Amy went to the International Women's Show in Novi to see Jon and Kate from the TLC show, "Jon and Kate Plus 8." It was so fun to see them in person :) Here are a few pics...

Mother's Day Charity Event

Hello NMF Members. I wanted to let you know of a great store (fun gift items) holding a special charity event. :) Maria Lolly Ella Jewelry and Buddha Belly Maternity stores of West Bloomfield Plaza (off Orchard Lake Rd. between 14 and 15 mile) are partnering to support Abigayle's Place, a residence for homeless mothers-to-be. Shop on Saturday May 10th, 10am-5pm and a portion of the proceeds will be donated. In addition, you can donate personal care items, diapers, baby lotion, wipes, etc. on the date of the event
