Have you let yourself go...now that you are a mom??

http://www.themomcrowd.com/are-you-%E2%80%9Cletting-yourself-go%E2%80%9D

From the article"

"I believe that many people think that moms have to dress like we did before we had kids to show that we haven’t “let ourselves go.” When in fact it is that our work uniforms have changed. I don’t have to wear a starched ironed shirt to play with my baby everyday. When I worked in an office I had to dress up in skirts, heels, and hosiery. Now when I shop I don’t have to think, “Is this appropriate for the office?” I can buy anything. It’s awesome."

I love this article! It makes me feel good about my current "work uniform!" Black yoga pants and a zip up hoodie...on a good day! :) :)

I dress about the same work vs. play time as I used to but the biggest change is how much time i have to get do my hair and makeup--not much. where before I might have done the full face including eyeliner or blush, now it's just mascara and gloss. and my hair, if it get blow dried straight that is all the time I will get with it. definetly not as stylish (if I ever was?) with my hair.

I definitely feel like I have let myself go, but it is because of my weight, not from being a mom.

This was a good article to read! It gives you some things to think about.

No mom should ever think that they let themselves go! We just have children now and they will always come before the gym and salon. Kids deserve the best from us no matter how we look in sweats or suit!

no, I finally feel like I can be "me" every day. I have never in my life liked dressing up - have always been a jeans/tshirt gal - and am thrilled to be able to wear whatever I want whenever I want now. I of course still shower everyday and refuse to be seen in public without at least a bit of makeup (although I'm with Kelly - it is a struggle to get ready with a toddler wanting to sample every cosmetic!...so I do what I can)

Kelly and Christina-

I found that when I was trying to put make-up on, Kara always wanted to get in on the action.

So I took a make-up bag (an old one or a free clinque one works) and I made her a "make-up" bag. I put a compact mirror in it, some brushes, a burts bees chapstick, a nail file etc...

Kara now loves to play with her make-up bag while mommy gets ready. It gives me a good 5-10 minutes to do what I need to do and she has fun playing pretend...

just an idea that worked for me.

I have given up on clothes. I stoped spending money on myself and it all goes to kids clothes. So i am still wearing stuff from long ago that has pins and staples.
