Question of the week!

What is the one piece of baby equipment you felt was a complete waste?

The expensive (like $100!) thermometer. My dr. said old-fashioned glass is the most accurate. Luckily, I returned the ridiculous one, and fortunately I've never even needed to take Gavin's temperature :)

Baby bumpers!!! When will I learn!?!?

All of the boys were in my room until they were 4 months old and by the time I moved them into their crib....the started rolling! If I have another baby, I will not waste my money on bumpers!!!! :) Danielle

Amy, do they make the glass ones without Mercury now?

I have an ear thermometer which I love. Unfortunately, I have had to take the boys temps several times and I find those to be the best!!! They are very quick and accurate. Only $30.00 too!

Yup, they make glass ones with alcohol, instead of mercury. (They are what I have to have in my science classroom.) My pediatrician said they are the most accurate, but they can be difficult to use, which is the downfall...
That's cool that you have a cheap and good ear thermometer!

Charlotte hated her bumbo seat, although I know some babies love it.

Also we had a separate "tummy time" activity mat which is a complete waste if you have a regular activity mat w/ the bars above, etc. You can just as easily intrigue the babies on their stomach on the regular one because most of them have toys, crinkles, etc. to play with right on the mat.

One thing I thought was unnecessary and didn't register for was a wipes warmer - but we ended up getting one as a gift and I'm glad we did :) If nothing else, it's heavy enough to get wipes out one-handed which sometimes you can fumble with with a regular wipes container.

Unfortunetly, until my baby hit the excersaucer at four months, not much was very useful except for my arms. Used the swing, bouncer and bumbo about 8 times total between the three....:(

The changing table. Kara moved around so much that I think I always changed her on the floor, bed, couch etc....
