Question of the week!

When buying your family couch/furniture, what qualities do you look for? :) Fabrics? Color? Durability?

We look for a friend who has a bargain of a couch to sell when we need a new family couch! hahah

I would bring the fabric swatch home adn spill everything you can think of on it--red wine, ice cream, mud, whatever adn see how it washes up. I did this with our fabric and was (and still am!) very pleased. i also tested to see if it showed our dog's hair--very key.

Oh, good suggestion, Kel! Can you tell this question was my idea?? I am 0 for 2 on the last 2 couches I have purchased, so clearly I need advice!!

How do you like your new couch??

I look for anything with texture and then google the fabric % makeup to get info on stain removal etc. Our couches seem to miraculously not just hide dog hair, but repel it? I'm glad I did some research ahead of time because I think I would pick the exact same mat'l in a different color if we ever move or get new couches...we've had them 5 years and they are still in great shape.

Also, I am typically a very frugal person but with furniture I'm convinced you get what you pay for, so we usually save up for these big purchases.

well to get (very) specific :)

*29% blended fiber batting (10% cotton 90% polyester)
*19% polyurethane foam
*32% cemented shredded polyurethane
*10% polyester fiber
*10% cellulose fiber pad

They're from Ethan Allen and when we purchased them I specifically asked for suggestions on material that wouldn't show dog hair. They were super helpful so rather than trying to decode the material breakdowns, my suggestion is to find a salesperson at a reputable company and pick their brain.
