Did anyone see this?

(submitted by Kim)

"She was tough on The King of Queens, but is Leah Remini a pushover mom in real life? She gives our cameras unprecedented access inside her home all day and night as she tries to wean her 3 ½-year-old daughter off the bottle once and for all! "

Is it ok to have a three year old on a bottle still?
What are your thoughts???

I couldn't tell from the clip whether the little girl was crying over the bottle or something else...but I've watched a couple scenarios like this on Supernanny or TLC shows (that makes me an expert obviously :) but in that case it was the parents that were so attached to things like the bottle because it kept their baby a "baby". More times than not I think the kids give it up way easier than the parents anticipate.

(coming from a mom who can't bear to wean her 20 month old from a pacifier :)

I dont' think comfort items are the devil unless they are causing real problems (like my infant whose pacifier was making me wake up 15 times a night!) I sucked my thumb until I was 6 and gave it up on my own once i realized I was too big for it--no tears. I also remember my sister liking to drink pop out of a baby bottle occasionally because it was "fun" adn she was probably 8! So I wouldn't get so hung up on things like that, they grow out of everything eventually.

I am a strict stickler to what "the experts" say and stopped the bottle cold turkey on Gavin's first birthday. I was always concerned about forming bad habits, so no bottle after one, no sippy cup at the table after two, no diaper/pull-up after three. Fortunately, Gavin never even thought twice about changing his habits, and taking these things was never an issue. I agree with Christina when she says that more times than not the kids give things up way easier than the parents anticipate...

Amy, I did not know that the experts said no sippy cups after two?? Uh oh!! We are not ready for that one! Don't know if my crazy boys are ready for big boy cups! Any tips??? Danielle

D,
Gavin still uses a sippy cup on his green chair and when we are out and it is easy, but when we eat meais at the table, he uses a little glass with no lid. I was amazed at how easily he figured it out. With B & J, maybe practice on the patio table w/no shirts on :) They will get it after a little bit of practice!
