Being a first grade teacher, it's really hard to say I have ONE favorite book! One of my top five is a book called "The Gift of Nothing." I can't remember the author off the top of my head. It is the cutest story about how giving our love to others is better than any gift in the world!

Hope I'm allowed to pipe in here even though I'm not officially a member here. I found this blog through Danielle, a fellow mother of TTTS twins. My favourite children's book is definitely "I'll Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch. I'm a Munsch fan in general but this book is very much unlike this others. It's very heartwarming and if you've experienced any sort of trials in your parenthood journey, this book will be very emotional for you. You can find out more at http://www.robertmunsch.com/books.cfm?bookid=40

My personal favorite when I was a kid was definitely anything Dr. Suess, especially "Green Eggs and Ham."

However, because of Kara I was introduced to these books by Lois Ehlert. We have a couple. They are very bright and colorful. It gives you opportunity to point out colors and shapes. Then at the end it gives you an activity to do with your child. For example, one of her books we have is "Pie in the Sky." At the end it shows you how to make a pie with your kid. Another book is about butterflies and classifies them at the end and shows how you can make a butterfly collection. Very fun!!!

Currently, my favorite book is "Leo the Late Bloomer" by Robert Krauss. About 6 months ago, I started having some concerns about the boy's development. After talking to my friend Maria about my concerns, she brought me this heartwarming book that has an excellent lesson about PATIENCE!! I took it as a sign that I need to be patient and let the boys develop on their own timeline. The doctors kept reassuring me that they were doing well and for some reason I continued to worry! Those of you that know me, probably are not surprised by that. :)

As soon as I started to chill out and focus on what they were doing vs. what they weren't doing, their development seem to take off. They are doing things closer to their chronological age vs. their adjusted age. To make a long story short, I learned a valuable lesson from this book and I love to read it to the boys.

Amy, of course you can pipe in!! If your a mom (or a woman thinking about having children) you are IN!! :) The idea is to share and learn from others! The more the merrier! :)

I like "Henry Hikes to Fitchburg" by D.B. Johnson. Cute story about how 2 friends approach life diffently.
