No Cry Sleep Solution...http://www.amazon.com/No-Cry-Sleep-Solution-Gentle-Through/dp/0071381392

the author is a mom who actually thinks like a mom--accurately describing the heartache of CIO along with the relentless need to get more sleep yourself. So what to do? This is the only book that gives you actual steps to follow to solve specific problems--like giving up the pacifier, weaning from nursing to sleep, etc. I felt like I had some hope if I followed the steps...and it gives a practical last chapter if all the "gentle" stuff doesn't work and you are about to lose your mind. It just seemed like a really good, sane compromise between CIO and Sears.--Kelly O.

I have been fortunate to have not encountered situations that have required a book for help.

In the beginning, I had one of those books that gave an average of what your child should be achieving each week... but then I would dwell on things Kara was not reaching and the book claimed she should be... so I gave that up.

I do appreciate advice from parenting magazines and friends who have children and what works for them.

Maybe I need a book to help me find time to read a book and be a working mom...I revert to magazines solely based on the length, or I should say shortness, of the information.

I love "Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child"... luckily Gavin has always been a great sleeper, but I think reading this book helped me to understand the importance and the logic behind baby sleep patterns. Someone recommended it to me and I have since recommended it to several other moms, many of whom have also loved it (although not all!)
