Food For Thought
http://freerangekids.wordpress.com/
From Kelly:
This website was started by a mom as a counterpoint to the prevaling wisdom that the world is scary and kids and pre teens shouldn't be allowed to do much (if anything) unsupervised. I'm not sure how I'll be as a "big kid" mom but I tend to lean more toward letting kids learn how to safely navigate their world as opposed to trying to protect them from EVERYTHING, which doesn't allow them to learn good coping skills or independent decision making. I'm sure it's a hard balance, but this site is a reminder that not every stranger is a child molester in waiting and not every kid who is allowed to run around outside drowns. In today's 24-7 horrible news on TV world, it's a good reminder I think.
