Question of the week!
You may have heard about Disney's announcement that they would refund money to parents who bought "Baby Einstein" videos between June 5, 2004, and Sept. 5, 2009 — the move came in the wake of a threatened class-action lawsuit for allegedly marketing the videos as something that will make children smarter.
Do you/have you used Baby Einstein videos with your own kids? What are your thoughts on this?

We never bought any, and as it turned out my toddler wouldn't sit still in front of a tv until she was nearly 2 anyway. I find it ridiculous that parents actually believed these videos would spark intelligence, but if we accept them for what they are --entertainment for your kid while you need to get something done-- then I don't see a problem as long as they're used in moderation!
Ditto!!! My kids were not interested in tv until they were two as well..I guess that is a good thing. Once they liked tv...all they wanted was DIEGO!!! :)

wanted to add that I do absolutely believe tv can enhance their learning once they're older...I know for a fact sesame street, etc. has taught my daughter things that we did not!
Gavin loved the one Baby Einstein DVD that we owned- I have fond memories of watching him in his jumper laughing when a funny object appeared on the screen. I knew he must be understanding something becuase he only laughed at appropriate times. I figured TV was giving him an experience I could not. He watched it in moderation when I needed to get stuff done around the house. I definitely did not show him the DVD in the hopes of making him smarter, I just wanted to expose him to something new :)

I tried to use a Baby Einstein DVD once when I took a shower and both Tess and I were bored to tears (her more than me on the crying part, but you get the idea ;)
I would like my money back not because I was swindled but because getting any money back at all for the thousands I have shelled out for baby products is a drop in the bucket I would gladly take!
I wonder how many parents soley relied on the DVD to make their kids smart. Seems like a silly law suit. How does that get phrased, oh my kid is dumb so i am suing you. I think those DVDs, while maybe not the most educational did open them up to music and colors.
Just my thoughts
