When I was pregnant with Gavin, I was too scared to look at the pg test, so I had my husband tell me the result, which was that we were pregnant. It was only a couple of weeks after we got married, so it was a shock to both of us :) It was cool, though, that he actually knew before I did...
With my next pregnancy, my husband was taking an exam for his master's degree when I did the test, so Danielle was actually the first person I told. Then when my husband got home, I had my then 2 year old tell Serge, "New baby!" and show him the pregnancy test. That was so cute and fun :) I video taped Gavin telling him, so that will always be a fun memory for all of us...
Then with this current pregnancy, Jodi was actually in my classroom with me when I got the call from the invetro nurse during lunch telling me that the invetro had worked and we were pregnant, so Jodi knew first, then I told my husband as he was walking kids in from recess at school. I said, "It worked!", we gave each other a high five, then continued on our way with crazy middle school kids all around us- definitely not romantic, but it suited us well :)
With my first pregnancy, I took the official pregnancy test in the East middle school staff bathroom. I called Kevin right away. Looking back..I wish I could have constructed a cool way to tell him. I couldn't wait another moment...I had to tell him right away.
With my second pregnancy, I told Kevin right before he had to go to a dinner for work. This pregnancy was a major shock. We were texting eachother the entire meal about our new surprise.

With my first I just KNEW, I could feel it stretch or something, so i felt like I had a secret that no one else knew for several days and I liked that. Then I took the test, which was (no suprise to me) positive, and my husband adn I sat on teh floor in the completely empty spare room that would become the nursery eventually and just sort of went "wow" and "this is crazy" even thought it was totally planned!
I was on mid-winter break vacation when I found out I was pregnant with Kara. I had a feeling I was, so the night before I enjoyed a few glasses of wine--- once I took the test I knew that would be out of the question :) So the next morning I took the test and it was positive. It was march 2nd- the same day (a few years later) that we got engaged. So I went to Target and bought a "I love my Daddy" bib. I wrapped it up and gave it him. At first he felt bad because he didn't realize it was an "anniversary" and he didn't get me a gift... he he ...he was so excited. And, like Kelly, although we were planning her, it was still a "wow, this is real..." moment. We were blessed.
With this pregnancy, we took the test right before a family vacation with my husband's family. We wanted to wait a few weeks to be safe before telling people... it was fun having a little secret between us. And, in less than 18 weeks we will get to meet her!
I was alone at home in the summer and I had bought a pack of three tests (one was a digital bonus) We were nutty this month and I had some weird sensations so I thought, maybe? I didn't tell dave I even bought the test....I tried the digital first and it blinked PREGNANT (I soon tried the other two as well to be sure!) This moment by myself was hilarious. My heart was racing and I was jumping around the house crying and laughing (totally nuts) I wrapped a hamburger bun with a green ribbon and stuck it in the oven. When Dave got home I told him there was something ready in the oven. He opened it and it took him what seemed like FOREVER and when he got it he hugged me and teared up! It was so special. We went out that night with friends and every so often, he would wink at me from across the room knowing we had this big secret!!!! Maria

Great question! I love reading everyone's story!!
It was a work day morning, 5:30 am and just woke up, my eyes were still all fuzzy. I was supposed to 'start' (tmi) that day and figured I would take the test. I bought those pregnancy tests from the Dollar store that display a line well, after waiting a few minutes I did not know if there was a faint line there OR if my morning eyes were playing tricks on me. As a little time went by the line got darker and darker I then RAN into our bedroom and slid across the bed and woke Aaron up...he said, "Your pregnant!" He just knew....probably because I dont slide across the bed and wake him up on a daily basis :)
I was shocked, happy, scared...but it was the best day of my life...Sept 11 (yea, im a dork and remember every detail)!!
Christine
I love these stories!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!
